Allergy Testing

Allergy testing finds what you are reacting to. Done the same day as initial visit. Custom tailored to your individual needs, not a fixed panel for everyone. Children and adults are seen.

We do the most comprehensive environmental testing in Rochester: tree, grass, and weed pollens, molds, dust mites, and animals. The panel is tied to this region and to the seasons in our pollen counts. Skin testing is also used for foods, stinging insects, and some drugs, when the history calls for those.

Testing is done in the office. A small amount of each allergen is placed on the skin, usually the arm or the back. The test is read before you leave, so you get results the same day. You review them with the provider at that visit, and formulate a treatment strategy.

Antihistamines and other medications can make the test unreadable. The scheduler will send and email our medications to avoid list Click here for list. Bring a current medicine list and any old tests.

A positive test means you are sensitized. It does not, by itself, mean that allergen is causing your symptoms. The plan comes from the results plus the history. That plan may be avoidance, medicine, shots, or a combination, aimed at less daily medicine when that is safe.
